            Sinulog is one of the best colorful festivals in Cebu after Christmas and New Year. It is celebrated every 3^rd Sunday of January during Sto. Niño feast to honor the powerful baby, who used to be the protector of all the Cebuanos in terms of calamities.

            As early as the month of December people are so excited and so busy practicing the sinulog dance, decorating the Basilica church and preparing for the coming feast. Though, not only in Cebu City celebrating a sinulog as well as some provinces in Cebu, as I have known one place in Balamban they also celebrating a sinulog festival where they celebrate it every 3^rd Friday of January  and they called it as “Hubo sa Sñr. Sto. Niño”. And most of the participants are come from Tuburan, the devotee of the powerful baby.

            As I remember last year, many people who came to Cebu to give thanks to the great baby Sñr. Sto. Niño or what they call as the devotees of Sto. Niño. From the church down to the Fuente circle it was really filled with people, a people who want to witness all the activities on that day.

"My First Interface to Foreign"

            Saturday, it was January 7, 2012. I started my day with a hot morning and a little bit nervous in my heart when our instructor gives us a task on that day. At first I really felt nervous since it was my first time to be with foreign presents. I don’t know what to say first to start our conversation. I was afraid to speak at first because I thought they were all fluent in English. But then they’re not. At the middle of our conversation all the fears and nervous I felt inside had gone. All the doubts in my mind was vanished when he keeps talking about his identity.

            He was Yu Ji Woong , in English “Eric”, a Korean student who visit in the Philippines to study English here at CTU main campus. He was 23 years old, still single and was born on December 2, 1988. He studied at Chong Yang College which was located at South Korea and taking up Civil Engineering. It was his 3^rd time here in the Philippines, the first time he went here was for vacation only.

            Eric loves swimming, playing online games, and watching movies. His favorite actress in Korean movie was Kim Tae Hee, I don’t know what was that in English he didn’t translate it. He has also fun in foods especially chicken that was his favorite.

            He also told us about his family, he have 3 brothers. His elder brother was studying at Manila, his mother was a plain housewife and I don’t know about his father because he didn’t say anything about him.

            I found out that chatting with different cultures was not so easy especially those people who begin to learn English. And I appreciate them all because they are eager to learned English no matter how hard it was for them.

Reproductive Health Bill: Ang magkakaiba at magkakatugmang pananaw

Ilang buwan nang sentro ng kontrobersiyal na talakayan ang Reproductive Health (RH) Bill. Ngayong nakasalang na sa plenaryo ng Kamara ang panukalang batas, lalong umiigiting ang palitan ng mga pahayag ng mga pabor at kontra rito.

Ngunit ano nga ba ang mga pananaw na nasa likod ng mga pahayag ng iba’t ibang pulitiko, grupo, at personalidad? Sa kanilang pagsulong o pagpigil sa RH Bill, sino nga ba ang tunay na nagsisikap na makamit ng mga mamamayan ang tunay na reproductive health?

Inihanay ng Pinoy Weekly ang pangunahing mga konsepto sa debate sa RH Bill, at ang pananaw hinggil dito ng apat na puwersang nangunguna sa debate. Mahalagang maarmasan ang mga mambabasa ng kaalaman tungkol sa RH Bill, at sa pundamental na mga usaping tinatalakay dito gaya ng kalusugan ng bayan, karapatan ng kababaihan, at higit sa lahat, kahirapan–ang numero unong sakit panlipunan.

~Pabor sa pagbibigay ng karampatang impormasyon hinggil sa pagpaplano ng pamilya, gamit man ang natural o artipisyal na pamamaraan gaya ng mga kontraseptibo. ~Pinaghihinalaang hinahabol ang dayuhang ayuda at pagbubukas ng bansa bilang merkado para saimported na mga kontraseptibo. Nagpahayag na ng suporta ang United States Agency for International Development (USAID), European Union (EU) at World Bank sa RH Bill. Ang USAID ang nagsu-suplay sa gobyerno ng mga condomhanggang noong 2003. Pinaghihinalaang isa ang pagpasa sa RH Bill sa ipinangako ni Pangulong Aquino kapalit ng $434-Milyong ayuda ng Millenium Challenge Corporation ng gobyernong US. Inihayag din ng EU na magbibigay ito ng €35-M ayuda sa gobyerno para sa akses sa mga kontraseptibo.	~Maliban sa labag sa doktrina ng Simbahang Katoliko, ang mga kontraseptibo rin ay pinaniniwalaang nakakasama sa kalusugan ng kababaihan (nagdudulot umano ng cancer) at nagreresulta sa pagdami ng mga kaso ng abortion(dahil sa iresponsableng gamit ng kontraseptibo atcontraceptive failure).	~Itinataguyod ang karapatan ng kababaihan na gumawa nginformed choice sa pagpaplano ng pamilya, kabilang na ang paggamit ng mga kontraseptibo. ~Naniniwala na sa pagtutulak ng gobyerno ng mga kontraseptibo bilang bahagi ng pagkontrol sa populasyon, hindi naisasaalang-alang ang kalusugan ng kababaihan, na gagawing “tagatanggap ng mga kontraseptibongdole-out ng mga mayayamang bansa at mga dayuhang kompanya, na kuwestiyunable ang pagiging ligtas.” Naisama ng Gabriela sa RH Bill ang probisyon na kailangang suriin muna ng DoH ang mga kontraseptibong pumapasok sa bansa, bago ipalaganap sa publiko.	~Ang mga kontraseptibo ay bahagi ng pagkakaroon ng “pinakamalawak na opsyon sa pagpaplano ng pamilya at kagyat na proteksiyon sasexually transmitted diseases,” ayon kay dating Akbayan Rep. Risa Hontiveros. ~Pinatatampok ang usapin ng mga kontraseptibo sa RH sa pamamagitan ng pamimigay ng libreng condom sa publiko. Inuulan din nila ng kritisismo ang paniniwala ng Simbahang Katoliko na anti-life ang paggamit ng mga kontraseptibo, at nagsasagawa ng mga demonstrasyon sa tanggapan ng CBCP. ~Hindi kinukuwestiyon ang pagiging ligtas ng mga kontraseptibo. Halimbawa, naniniwala ang PLCPD na “lahat ng kontraseptibo ay magiging epektibo kung gagamitin nang maayos.”

Sang-ayon ako sa RH Bill, dahil sa nakikita ko sa panahon ngayon lalong lumalaki ang ating populasyon. Maraming mga bata ang nasa kalye nagpapalimos para may makain, hindi ba kayo naaawa sa mga batang ito? Anak tayo ng anak, hindi naman natin sila kayang buhayin. 
Sa pamamagitan man lang ng Rh bill masusulusyonan natin ang problema ng populasyon. At masugpo na rin ang pagdami ng mga bata sa kalye na nakakaawang tingnan. At para na rin sa lahat na sanay hindi lang puro sarap ang dapat isipin nila, dapat isipin din nila ang magiging resulta.

My Foolish Heart

   I've done a lot of thinking always because of you. I'm very happy when were together. Even though sometimes you act like you don't care.

   I don't know why I'm still hanging around. You always hurt my feelings and make me cry, every time I

remember that you belong to someone else because you chose to love her instead....

    I always want us to be together, but do you wish to be with me even once? How I'd wish you were mine to have you everyday, because I LOVE YOU .....dearly.....;)
